Zafir Amir Abdur Rahman was born on October 4th, 1993 and was the beloved son of Zakariyya and Taherrah Abdur Rahman. He was the youngest of two other siblings and raised in their loving and supportive family. Zafir grew up knowing that he and his brother would one day take over their family business. His parents taught him as he grew up and by the time he became a man he had learned to run it successfully.

On August 2, 2017, Zakariyya & Taherrah Abdur Rahman lost Zafir to senseless violence. In spite of the devastating impact of this tragic loss, the Abdur Rahman family will continue to work diligently to sustain and grow the family business that was to be passed on to Zafir.

Zafir’s talents were creative and multi-faceted – an integral part of his family life as well as their business. He was a unique young man, special to his parents, family, friends and his extended community.

To honor his memory, his parents ask that you direct all gifts and contributions to Zafir’s most cherished charity – the Zakee Abdur Rahman (ZAR) Memorial Scholarship Fund, established in 2009 by the Nicetown CDC in memory of his brother who was also lost to senseless violence. The purpose of the ZAR Memorial Scholarship Fund is to establish a positive legacy of perpetual benefit, that is based upon a foundation of education. The objective is to award high school students who have been accepted to a college or university. The ZAR also sponsors an annual 4-day tour for high school students to visit historically black colleges and universities. (HBCU’s)
